CRADLE OF HUMANKIND                                         

The Cradle tour is a full day tour.

The Cradle of humankind is a World Heritage Site. The area is home to a number of caves, the most well known being the Sterkfontein caves complex. This tour explores the remarkable importance and history of the Cradle area. 

• We discuss the importance of the geology of the area for cave formation and the fossil record.
• We drive through the Cradle area and explore the surrounding countryside, visiting several important sites.
• Sterkfontein caves and the Maropeng museum are the two premiere tourism venues and our tour will include a visit to at least one of them.

​The Cradle is bounded to the North by the Magaliesberg Mountain Range. This feature is itself a beautiful and ancient part of the region. Should time allow, we will explore the foothills of these mountains.
